THE FOOTHILLS - 2020 VISION PRESENTATION
OUR STORY
With steep bedrock terrain that affords cherished views to the Strait of Georgia and a vast recreational “backcountry” measuring over 1,000 acres, The Foothills is an alluring landscape above Lantzville and holds significant opportunity for community growth and development. Nearly a decade has passed since Storm Mountain Developments and the District of Lantzville have been working towards the realization of neighbourhood development at The Foothills. Today, we seek to present a refreshed vision for what we believe can be. We offer the following information, updated to better reflect community values and priorities, better meet market conditions ...and better leverage opportunities to implement the vision.

A Vision for the Foothills
The Foothills hold remarkable promise...
Perched atop bedrock and inter-woven with a network of trails and pathways, The Foothills is envisioned as a Gateway to the Great Outdoors. Destination hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing comprise the community’s shared backcountry “backyard,” while individual neighbourhoods are designed to be within convenient walking distance of social gathering spaces and retail services to provide basic needs. The Foothills architectural character is envisioned as “laid back, mountain modern” where local materials are celebrated, buildings are functional, and the community respects and enhances the natural quality of the Foothills.
The plan currently includes:
1100 acres of protected parkland
Over 22km of trails and 10 public viewpoints, including the Copley and Lone Tree Mountain summits
5 rock climbing areas
Our Values
Our ongoing work at the Foothills is guided by the following values:
integrity beyond any doubt as exemplified by ongoing commitments and openness to input
lasting legacy as exemplified by park dedication;
pursuit of the extraordinary as exemplified by landmark community building;
self sufficiency including mixed-use neighbourhoods and community infrastructure;
diversity as exemplified by a mix of neighbourhood uses, recreational opportunities and housing options;
living adventure as exemplified by a neighbourhood plan integrated into a recreational paradise ...that begs the question “why compromise?”
